Open the World of Chamber MusicThrough chamber music, the maturing musician is developed into an independent and confident orchestra member. Chamber musicians learn to play together as a group without a conductor. Selected members of the Philharmonia orchestra have the added opportunity of participating in chamber music groups. This program, run by the Oberlin Conservatory's Community Music School, allows rapid growth and great musical satisfaction as the students receive weekly personal attention and are challenged in a more exposed setting. Students are grouped into duos, trios, quartets or quintets, in traditional or nontraditional combinations of instruments.
In our 2007/2008 season, our chamber music groups included two string quartets, a woodwind quintet and a brass quintet. This program requires an additional commitment of time and finances. Scholarship funds are available for this program through a generous grant from The Stocker Foundation. View chamber music events/schedule
