Directed by Daniel Heim, the Philharmonia Orchestra is a full symphonic orchestra, NOYO’s most advanced traditional ensemble. This orchestra performs standard repertoire and one world premiere by NOYO’s composer-in-residence each season. NOYO accepts Philharmonia Orchestra auditions on all orchestral instruments.

Daniel Heim
Daniel Heim is a violist, conductor, and educator with experience in chamber music and orchestral performance. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Musikhochschule Lübeck, and a Master’s in Music Education from Case Western Reserve University along with Suzuki teaching certification. Heim has performed with orchestras such as Apollo’s Fire, the Cleveland Pops, Lübeck Philharmonic, NDR Symphony Hamburg, and Hamburg State Opera, as well as Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble.
As an educator, he has taught at all levels, including at Akron Public Schools and Case Western Reserve University. He was named Akron’s Miller South School Teacher of the Year in 2009 and Ohio String Teachers Association’s New Teacher of the Year in 2010.
Since 2009, Mr. Heim has been Instrumental Music Director at Cleveland Heights High School, where he teaches multiple orchestras, applied guitar, Music Appreciation, and AP Music Theory. He also directs the Musical Pit Orchestra and Heights Summer Music Camp for middle school instrumentalists.
