ensembles & camps

NOYO offers six ensembles—the Philharmonia Orchestra, Sinfonietta Strings, Wind Symphony, Amati Strings, Symphonic Band, and Lab Group—during the concert season, as well as two summer camps, Summer Winds and Summer Symphony.

Wind Symphony

Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony, directed by Mrs. Rachel Boettler, is an intermediate concert band, the only one of its kind in Lorain County. It affords woodwind, brass, and percussion players the opportunity to play exciting literature in a dynamic instructional context.

Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is an advanced wind ensemble under the direction of Mr. Brett Benzin. In order to accommodate musicians who participate in their schools' marching bands, Symphonic Band rehearsals begin on November 3; accordingly, Symphonic Band tuition is $220.

Sinfonietta Strings

Sinfonietta Strings

The Sinfonietta Strings, directed by Mrs. Peggie Willett, is an intermediate strings-only orchestra. In Sinfonietta Strings, musicians refine their technical skills and cultivate the sensitive listening and expressive capabilities that will serve them throughout their lives.

The Amati Strings, directed by Mrs. Katie Holaway, is an orchestra for beginning string players. Amati musicians develop technical fundamentals, learn the basics of ensemble musicianship, and foster a love of performing.

Directed by Dr. Antoine T. Clark, the Philharmonia Orchestra is a full symphonic orchestra, NOYO’s most advanced traditional ensemble. This orchestra performs standard repertoire along with one world premiere by NOYO’s composer-in-residence each season.
